导入新课 | Review Step1:Present the summary of 16 tenses on the PPT. Invite some students to make sentences freely using the present continuous tense. Step2:Show some sentences on PPT, ask students to change the sentences into the passive form. (1) I take a book. (2) He waters the flowers every day. (3) The famers don't grow apples on the farm. (4) Can we put our bikes here? Answers: (1) The book is taken by me. (2) The flowers are watered by him every day. (3) Apples are not grown by the farmers on the farm. (4) Can our bike be put here?
Leading–in Step3:Ask students to underline the present continuous passive voice in the sentences and discuss its function. Step4: Guide students to change the sentences into active form. (1) African elephants are being hunted. (2) What is being done to help them? (3) What measures are being taken to help them? Answers: (1) Hunters are hunting African elephants. (2) What are people doing to help them? (3) What measures are people taking to help them?
Step5:Ask students to find more sentences with the same verb form in this unit. Example sentences: (1) They are being hunted, illegally, for their valuable fur. (Page-16 Paragraph 2) (2) Much is being done to protect wildlife. (Page-16 Paragraph 7) Step6:Guide the students to summarize the grammatical structure of the present continuous passive voice.
Step7: Ask the students to make sentences according to the grammatical structure “Object +am/is/are being +past participle +(by +Subject)” Example sentences:Books are being read by students. | 回顾16种时态的总结表,并用现在进行时语态造句子。

讲授新课 | Activity-1 Step8:Let the students find the present continuous passive voice in the sentence, get a preliminary sense of its form and function, and look for more sentences containing the present continuous passive voice in this unit. Step9:Guide the students to distinguish the meaning and function of the three language forms of present continuous passive voice, active voice and present simple passive voice in the single sentence. Step10: Ask the students to do the matching questions, linking the grammatical structure with the corresponding Chinese meaning. am/is/are being done——现在进行时的被动语态 am/is/are doing——现在进行时的主动语态 am/is/are done——一般现在时的被动语态 Step11:Ask students to change the sentence into the passive form. (1) I am reading a book. (2) They are hunting a dear. (3) Tom is playing the guitar. Answers: (1) The book is being read by me. (2) The dear is being hunt by them. (3) The guitar is being played by Tom.
Activity-2 Step12:Read the passage which is about Liu Tao’s concern of the wetland in his hometown. Answer teacher’s question and finish the passage with the present continuous passive voice of the verbs in brackets. Q1: What is happening to the small birds in the wetland? Q2: What is happening to the wild ducks? Q3: What is happening to the fish and snakes? Q4: What is happening to the wetland? Q5: What do you think should be done to protect the wetland? Discussion Step13:Ask students to discuss in groups and prepare to give a presentation of your ideas to the class. What do you know is being done in your neighbourhood to protect animals and plants? What suggestions do you have? For example: Well, the old trees in the park are being protected. Perhaps they could help protect the birds by making the roads around the park free from cars. That would certainly help make the air cleaner for them …
Language points Important words deer n. 鹿 ( pl. deer ) An animal with long legs, that eats grass, leaves, etc. and can run fast. There are many types of deer. a deer park 鹿苑 a herd of deer 一群鹿 Example sentences: Huntsmen chased the deer silently. If we are hunted, many deer will be hurt each day. kangaroo n. 袋鼠 ( pl. -oos ) A large Australian animal with a strong tail and back legs, that moves by jumping. The female carries its young in a pocket of skin (called a pouch ) on the front of its body. Example sentences: Kangaroo attacks are relatively rare. Kids love stuff like exploring caves or kangaroo parks. reduce vt. 减少 To make sth less or smaller in size, quantity, price, etc. reduce waste 减少浪费, 减少废弃物 reduce expenditure 减少开支 Example sentences: Reduce what you need to do. Oil is put in machinery to reduce the friction. due adj. due to adv. 由于;因为 Synonym: because of as a result of Example sentences: That was made into an office due to its small size. We dig a hole, which is not easy, due to roots. insect n. 昆虫 ( pl. -s) Any small creature with six legs and a body divided into three parts. Insects usually also have wings. Ants , bees and flies are all insects. insect pest 害虫 insect bite 昆虫咬伤;蚊虫叮咬 Example sentences: He instanced the fly as dirty insect. The traveller's face was covered with insect bites. neighbourhood n. 临近的地方;街区( pl. -s) A district or an area of a town; the people who live there. The area that you are in or the area near a particular place. in the neighbourhood of 大约;在...附近 Example sentences: My neighbourhood has really been built up. The fire alarmed the whole neighbourhood.
